StarBlaze HF 550LH is a basic-type hard surfacing electrode designed for tough applications involving high impact, abrasion, and compressive stress. It delivers a pure weld metal hardness of 58–60 HRc, making it ideal for surfacing components subject to heavy wear and dynamic loading. Recommended for use on machine parts, beater bars, dredge teeth, scrapers, crusher jaws, and more.

- DC+ polarity recommended (~70V OCV)
- Usable positions: 1G/PA, 2F/PB, 2G/PC
- Best used with short arc and near-vertical electrode angle
- Multiple layers possible with appropriate interpass cooling
- Re-dry electrodes at 300°C for 2 hours if necessary
- Use a buffer layer (18/8Mn type) on crack-sensitive base metals
- Preheat high carbon and low alloy steels to 200–400°C as required
- Slow air cooling after welding recommended for metallurgical stability
