Impact Resistant, Compression Resistant, Abrasion Resistant Hardfacing
A rutile type hard surfacing electrode designed for producing tough-hard weld deposits with excellent resistance to impact, compression, and abrasion. StarBlaze PRIME 550 is suitable for hardfacing unalloyed and low alloy steels subjected to severe wear conditions and higher tensile stresses. It provides a combination of high hardness and toughness, making it ideal for rebuilding and protecting machine parts exposed to abrasive wear and moderate impact loading. The electrode offers smooth welding characteristics and consistent hardfacing performance for extending component service life.

For crack-sensitive materials, a buffer layer of 18/8 Mn type electrode is recommended
Low alloy and high carbon tool steels should be preheated to 200–400°C depending on composition and thickness
Allow slow cooling in still air after surfacing
Designed for applications requiring a balance of hardness, abrasion resistance, and impact toughness
